Rizos Theodoros Chadoulis

Physicist, PhD Candidate at AUTH, Research Associate at IAASARS of the National Observatory of Athens.

Rizos-Theodoros Chadoulis is a physicist with postgraduate degrees in Artificial Intelligence, Communication Networks and Systems Security, Environmental Physics, and European Policies. He is currently a PhD candidate at the Department of Informatics of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), specializing in Signal Processing and Information Analysis with applications in Environmental Monitoring. Since January 2022, he has also been an active member of the Student Registry of the Hellenic Authority for Higher Education (HAHE), contributing to the quality assurance and accreditation of more than 26 Master’s programs across Greek universities.

Since 2024, he has been working at IAASARS of the National Observatory of Athens, focusing on the prediction of solar radiation and energy production using satellite observations and ground-based measurements. His research interests lie at the intersection of environmental physics, remote sensing, artificial intelligence, and energy systems. His scientific output includes 5 peer-reviewed journal publications and 8 conference papers, with an h-index of 3.

In the spring semester of 2023, he was a Visiting Scholar at the University of Maryland, where he conducted part of his doctoral research and participated in the activities of NASA’s Land Cover Land Use Change Program. Previously, he worked for four years as a Research Assistant at the Information Technologies Institute of the Centre of Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH), and as an External Consultant at 28Digital (formerly EIT Digital), contributing to initiatives of the EIT AI Community.

For the period 2026–2028, he serves as a Board Member of NOESIS Science Center & Technology Museum, a leading non-profit science and technology organization in Thermi (Thessaloniki) dedicated to science communication and public engagement.

He has held several leadership and governance roles, including President of DAP-NDFK Thessalonikis (2015–2016) and Executive Board Member of ONNED (2019–2021). Since 2023, he has been an elected Board Member of the Hellenic Physical Society (ΕΕΦ), currently serving his second consecutive two-year term (2023–2027).

He is proficient in English, has a solid working knowledge of German, and also speaks French and Spanish. He holds a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification. Outside academia and professional activities, he enjoys strength training, birding, and hiking.
